Intro to Mindfulness and
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)*

*MBSR is a science-based mindfulness approach developed in 1979 by John Kabat-Zinn, a medical professional and mindfulness practitioner.

October 15th, 22nd, and 29th, from 5:15-6:45pm, in-studio at HYB

HYB will be offering a no cost, small-group workshop series designed to introduce the principles of Mindfulness and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Recognizing how stressful being human in today’s society can be, we will be introducing techniques that calm the nervous system, reduce the impact of stress, and promote greater health, wellbeing, balance, and inner wisdom.

Each week, we will explore different topics, including improved focus through present moment awareness, resilience in challenging situations, establishing balance and boundaries, managing strong emotions, the benefits of self care, and other mindfulness strategies. The practice will include:

  • a talk on the practice of mindfulness (what it is and why mindfulness alleviates stress)

  • awareness meditation practice

  • mindful movement

  • group dialogue
